Please meet Nipporin. Nipporin is the mascot of Nippori Sen-i Gai or in English Nippori Fabric Town. They say, that in the 1950s, Nippori was the place to shop for second hand clothes and fabric left behind by American soldiers. It started as a black market. Now it is a lively shopping street for fabrics and textiles and everything you might need for sewing from buttons, threads and needles to machines. The street is roughly one kilometer long and there’s more than 90 shops waiting for your visit. It’s a paradise!

I went there because I needed bobbins and needles for a sewing machine. And of course I got those. But I also bought a bag full of fabric. At one point I had to stop going into the shops. Otherwise I would have needed to rent a pickup to carry everything at home….
After those purchases I had to stop going into the shops… Trimmings Some outside, much more inside Leather ribbons Secondhand kimonos Borders and laces Fasteners Tulle Fabric Looks like a store from the early days Crafted goods Leather goods Fabric for 100 Yen (= approx.
