Marroni

Still in Switzerland, I thought I had to feast on some marroni and vermicelles before I left. I feared I would miss the whole marroni season otherwise. I was wrong! So very wrong. Chestnuts are everywhere here.

You can buy them whole and raw, either in those red bags or in plastic containers with nice labels.

Mostly however, you can buy them prepared and ready to eat. At least I think they are as I can only judge from the pictures :-)

Two days ago, finally, I couldn’t resist anymore and I bought some. I chose the packaging on the left because of those cute chestnut faces.

Inside there were two bags. Each containing a snack-sized portion. I opened one and put the chestnuts in a bowl to heat them in the microwave. They are smaller, their colour is darker and they taste sweeter than ours. Very yummy!

And there’s even more chestnut delicacies! :-)
